These records document legal action taken mainly against county officials and some state agencies usually for sureties, shortages of funds and other offenses and settlements of the charges due to alleged misuse of funds. The folders may include briefs, hearings, petitions, reports and correspondence pertaining to the cases. Cases present regard sheriffs, courts of county commissioners, county treasurers, judges of probate, justices of the peace, circuit clerks, and registrars of various counties and state agencies.
